At Buchanhaven School, we are committed to continuous improvement to ensure the highest quality of learning and teaching for all our pupils. Attainment: Maintained focus on writing, aiming for 60% on track and 25% exceeding expectations. Introduced Nessy for reading and Big Maths for numeracy.
Meta Skills: Strategic plan for play-based learning and STEM, including dedicated rooms and policies. Emphasis on creativity and employability.
Partnerships: Strengthened collaboration with parents, businesses, and community groups. Created agreements with business partners and increased parental involvement in school improvement.
Equity: Detailed Pupil Equity Funding plan targeting attendance, engagement, literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing through PSAs, PSWs, and wellbeing coaches.

Attainment: Continued raising attainment in literacy and numeracy. Targeted improvements in reading and writing for P2–P4. Increased pupil voice and leadership opportunities.
Curriculum Development: Reviewed writing, grammar, numeracy assessments, and HWB progression. Introduced technology for gathering pupil voice and refreshed topic planners.
Play & STEM: Audited resources and approaches for play-based learning and STEM. Began creating dedicated zones and policies for these areas.
Inclusion: Rolled out the CIRCLE framework to improve inclusive practices and staff confidence in supporting learners.
Partnerships: Expanded community engagement and parental involvement. Continued development of PFCCF wellbeing programme and wider achievement opportunities.

Learning & Teaching: Developed a shared Learning, Teaching & Assessment (LTA) statement. Embedded Feedback Friday and colourful semantics to improve writing.
Partnerships: Re-established community links post-COVID. Increased parental engagement through events like Buchanhaven Brunch and Stay & Play. Expanded after-school clubs and pupil leadership opportunities.
Wellbeing & Inclusion: Strengthened nurture and wellbeing supports (PFCCF, PSWs). Embedded SHANARRI indicators and emotion coaching.
Curriculum: Enhanced outdoor learning and introduced focus weeks for French, Science, Eco, and Diversity.
