Nursery / ELC

Buchanhaven ELC is an all year 8-6pm setting. We offer places for children aged from 3 years up to school age. The nursery has the capacity to place up to 40 children per session. Children can attend a mix of mornings (8-1pm), afternoons (1-6pm) and full day sessions (8-6pm).  

If you have opted for an all-year place for your child, they will attend the Peterhead Holiday Hub. Your child will still be offered their usual sessions, but this may be provided at a different setting, for example, Greenacres ELC. Information will be shared with parent/carers prior to the holidays to ensure smooth transitions during the holiday period and opportunities to visit the Holiday hub setting will be offered before they attend. 

At Buchanhaven ELC we constantly strive to strengthen partnerships with parents/carers and the community. At Buchanhaven ELC we operate a key worker system. Your child will be allocated a member of staff who will have a specific role to support their progress throughout the setting to enhance their learning and holistic development. The key worker will make regular contact with parents/carers to discuss their child’s development and learning. Your child will have an individual learning journey portfolio that you can access and add to at any time.   

Children have access to outdoor free flow play daily in a secure garden. A variety of loose part resources encourage the children to be creative, independent, explore and problem solve. 

Every child at Buchanhaven ELC is important to us and we endeavour to create meaningful opportunities for them to achieve success in a happy, safe, child- led, stimulating and nurturing environment.
